It is believed that the Roll of Honour was commissioned by Bradford on Avon Urban District Council (as it was then called). It was placed in the grounds of Westbury House in December 1914. The Roll of Honour was dressed with the flags of the main Allied combatant nations – in 1914 this would have been Britain, France and Imperial Russia, known together as the Entente Powers.
